The History of Franklin County, Virginia in a Bottle
Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains and right in the heart of Franklin County, VA, Chris has found his new distillery home in Henry, Virginia. With 3 springs and 2 wells, the water quality and size of the location has allowed Twin Creeks to expand their distillery to include an old time copper submarine type still as well as our large steam injected still for larger production runs. At our location we do it all, Mash, Run and distill, age and bottle. Come see us today and maybe you'll catch us running a little likker.
All of our craft spirits are made from local grains using age old distilling methods. While Franklin County was know for it's Moonshine in the heyday of the illegal trade, immigrants from Scotland, Ireland and Germany have made quality craft spirits here since the early 18th century. These traditions were passed down by family and form the basis of the process Chris uses today to make his corn, rye and sugar craft spirit products as well as the ever popular brandies. Chris has learned many of his techniques from his outlaw distilling friends and has refined those recipes and skills into a distilling process that creates a wonderful product, made for sipping or making into your favorite cocktails . Chris Prillaman, Owner and Master Distiller prides in producing quality spirits while using locally sourced ingredients and age old distilling methods. Chris was raised in Franklin County, Virginia, the “Moonshine Capital of the World”, and his family has longtime ties to bootlegging. Both sides were even caught up in “The Great Conspiracy Trial of 1935.” The name “Twin Creeks” has a long history behind it. Twin Creeks is the road where the Prillaman family resides and still places have been spied along both sides of the twin creeks that line this road. The Prillaman family began the process of making legal liquor in 2014 with their first sales to the Virginia ABC in December 2015.
